Corky's triumphant return

After 8 long years apart, Corky’s 24Petwatch microchip helped bring him back home.

An open door, an unlatched gate or a small distraction is all it can take for a pet to go missing. In late 2009, the unthinkable happened to the Montez family from Texas, their beloved dog Corky went missing.

The family began to lose hope after 6 months of searching for Corky. They had gone door-to-door and searched their neighborhood. Corky had a collar, tag and microchip – but still no sign of the family pet. Fast forward to nearly SEVEN YEARS LATER – and the Montez family got a call that shocked them. Corky’s microchip had been scanned by the Humane Society of North Texas. Without skipping a beat, the family (now larger than when Corky went missing) rushed to the Humane Society to reunite with their long lost furry family member.

They learned that Corky (now eight) had been found with a furry friend, a one-eyed Terrier the shelter had named Captain. Not knowing the history of the friendship, but seeing the bond the dogs shared, the Montez family knew their brood would grow to include Captain, as well.

“Our family is now complete”, said Jimmy Montez. “Without your service we would never have Corky back in our lives. We owe it all to 24PetWatch.”

The Montez family are happy to report that their family now has four dogs – all of which they were sure to microchip.
