DIY – Grow your own cat grass
Embracing a DIY approach to pet care not only strengthens the bond between you and your feline companion but also introduces an element of natural wellness into their lives. Whether you're a gardening enthusiast or a novice with a green thumb, the journey of growing cat grass at home is both rewarding and surprisingly simple. Below are directions on how to grow your own grass that will delight your furry friend and add a touch of nature to your living space.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A small pot
- Organic potting soil (we want to keep your cat safe from fertilizers!)
- Cat grass seeds (you can check your local garden center)
- Plastic wrap
- Water
Directions:
Step 1: Place potting soil in pot
Step 2: Sprinkle a generous number of seeds around the pot – don’t be afraid to go close to the edge!
Step 3: Sprinkle some potting soil over the seeds.
Step 4: Water and cover with plastic wrap (try to create a bit of a dome – this keeps the moisture level high).
Step 5: Place in a sunny location, watch and wait!
Once your seeds start to sprout you can remove the plastic wrap. Make sure your cat grass is around 2.5”-3” before letting your cat feast.
