The Bichon Frise was a very popular breed in the 16th century in France, and were often used as circus dogs. It was not until 1955 that the Bichon Frise came to the United States, and breeding of this dog in the US began in 1960. This breed is a mix of a Barbet Water Spaniel and Poodle. They are a good pet for people with allergies as they do not shed much. They do, however, require a fair amount of routine grooming. Trimming around the eyes is required to prevent accumulated mucus build up which can lead to serious eye problems. The Bichon Frise should be bathed monthly. They are suitable for an apartment or yard-less home as they are active indoors and can get the majority of exercise they need (however they do appreciate additional exercise!). They love to be surrounded by action, and to to socialize with people and other dogs. They are good with children, other pets and are generally sociable towards strangers!

I'm writing to express my heartfelt gratitude in regards to the assistance Pethealth provided me when my husky, Skye, became suddenly ill. A large bump was discovered in her chest on a Thursday. I scheduled an appointment with her vet for Friday... Unexpectedly, I had to leave the office without my angel because the vet informed me that she had a tumor that required immediate removal. Knowing that I had insurance to help pay medical expenses was a tremendous relief - I was so distraught at having to leave her that the last thing I needed to worry about was a $1,500.00 bill! Less than 2 weeks later, a cheque arrived from Pethealth to reimburse me for every penny! (minus the deductible) I highly recommend Pethealth to anyone considering pet health insurance.
Pethealth truly does provide peace-of-mind at a time when all you care about is the safety and health of your beloved pet.
