This breed originated in Greece named Alopekis which means “small and fox like” after their appearance. They trace as far back to the Paleolithic times (also known as the stone age) in Thessaly. They have always been and continue to be a valued companions to the Greek. A hairless version of this dog became extinct when the climate in Greece began to cool. The climate changes caused the hairless breed depend on human assistance to stay alive and warm. It is believed that since they were not as aesthetically pleasing as their furry counterpart, they did not receive the help they required and became extinct. The Alopekis has many natural talents including: hunting, attending flock, possessing and being a watch dog.

I first heard about 24Petwatch Pet Insurance when I read an article in the New York Times about the topic of pet insurance. The article featured Pethealth and included your phone number and website in it. I saved the article and finally decided to take out a Pethealth policy about 8 months later. Just 1 month after I signed up for QuickCare Gold, my dog broke his tooth. The broken tooth was quite serious because a nerve had been exposed. I had the option of pulling the tooth or having a root canal completed. My vet strongly recommended the root canal treatment. I wouldn't have been able to afford one without my pet insurance coverage. Taiko is doing wonderful now, and looks great. Thank-you Pethealth.
