Dog Breeds - American Foxhound

Return to Breed List

The American Foxhound is a very loving breed with an abundance of energy. They require a lot of exercise and attention or else they will use their energy destructively, scratching at things and tearing them apart. They are intelligent when it comes to escape, however can get caught up with following a scent trail which can lead them into dangerous situations in urban areas where they may follow a scent onto a busy street. Their strong sense of smell and natural instincts makes this breed a great hunter, especially within a pack. Their friendly nature towards humans makes them wonderful companions but mediocre watch dogs. The American Foxhound has been bred overtime to be very friendly, weeding out the ones that have been more aggressive towards humans. This breed has an athletic build, and a willingness to work. The American Foxhound breed is known for its unique tone of voice.

Dear Pethealth - I can´t express how wonderful to give the gift of a longer life to our elderly cat. He is 18, has had an eye removed for cancer, and thanks to Pethealth is continuing to be stronger. (I have to add an endorsement for pet foods like Pets4Life, which has helped him recover and resist illness. His digestion and health have made a complete turn for the best). Nipper has grown along my son and is such an important member of our family. I am so grateful that Pethealth does not discard our older pets and in effect shares our view of them as cherished parts of us. How tragic to ever think of letting them die because of lack of money.
