The Akita originated In Japan, named after the country called “Akita Prefecture” which is located in northern Japan. They are classified by the AKC in the “Working Group”, and it is believed that they were used by an ancient group called the “Matagi” for hunting game, and for hunting bears for sport. Their solid, muscular stature, paired with their faithful and fearless nature makes the Akita an ideal guard dog. The Akita is considered the national dog of Japan. Small figurines of Akitas are often sent to wish those suffering from an illness a fast and healthy recovery. This breed is very intelligent, although bores quiet easily and may be destructive to property if not given enough exercise and attention. The Akita is strong willed and does not respond well to force, demanding respect and patience during training

I signed up with Pethealth this past summer. The programs seemed straight forward, and even though Hudson was 10 years old, he wasn't excluded from any of them. Only 2 months after signing up with Pethealth, I noticed that Hudson was drinking a lot more water than usual. I took him to the vet for a check-up and found out that he was diabetic. Today Hudson is very happy and healthy, and is down from 3 injections to only 1 a day!
The 24Petwatch Pet Insurance Programs are represented truthfully, and I was surprised at how fast I received my claims check. I had heard some negative stories about insurance companies in the past… but I'm glad I took a chance with Pethealth!
