Originating in Germany, this breed was given the name “Affenpinscher”, which translates to “monkey-like terrier”, because of its facial structure and expression. It is believed that the Affenpinscher were larger and originally bred for farms to hunt rats, however they were miniaturized around the time of the 18th century. This breed is temperature sensitive, preferring cooler climates to warm. Though this breed is quite intelligent, training may prove slightly difficult as a common trait is stubbornness!

After adopting my dog Sake from a shelter, I purchased my Pethealth policy online. I had looked into other programs and determined Pethealth's was the best option. I've been very happy with my pet insurance and very grateful that I took out the policy for Sake. She loves to play outside and somehow one-day she injured his ACL. When I contacted Pethealth, the representatives were very helpful and I received my check the week after I submitted my claim. Taking out 24Petwatch Pet Insurance was the greatest thing I have ever done. What an investment!
